Feature Friday | Pop of Style!

This week, we are featuring the face behind the popular fashion blog, Pop Of Style!

Meet Missy!

What inspired you to start your blog ‘”Pop Of Style!?”

I started my blog, Pop Of Style!, as a way to challenge myself creatively to mix and match pieces within my own wardrobe without having to shop for new things. This was while I was going to graduate school and needed to stay on a strict budget. I’ve always loved reading fashion magazines and keeping up on the latest styles so I thought with my background in communication, media studies, and advertising that I could use my degree to create a website that challenged me to create fashionable everyday styles from within my own closet!

How would you describe your style? How has living in Orlando, FL influenced your look?

I would describe my style as classic with a trendy edge. I have watched my style evolve greatly over the past 4 years–I used to be very thrifty and edgy, then my style developed into more “preppy” types of looks. I started to gravitate toward more of the boho mixed with classics trend and now that I’m moving toward turning 30 I am starting to see myself tending to move toward more neutrals and classic pieces that can be mixed and matched from an office to after-hours wardrobe. Moving to Orlando from the north has definitely influenced my style! When I was living in the north, I tended to layer a lot due to the ever-changing and unpredictable weather. Living in the south has forced me to focus more on accessorizing more lightweight pieces. Additionally, I have taken to more hot weather pieces like crop tops, flowy dresses, and skirts!

Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts?

I find inspiration everywhere! I often think to myself, “what would I like to read/like covered in a fashion magazine right now?” and that’s where I’ll start. Lately, I’ve learned to come to terms with the body shape I’ve been given and have looked to others with a similar shape for inspiration on what looks good on our specific body type. I find that it’s better for me to flatter what I have then to try a trendy look that doesn’t necessarily work with my body. I’m always finding pattern mixing and color palette suggestions when I people watch and of course on my favorite site Pinterest! Meeting other bloggers in my area always gives me inspiration, it’s wonderful to see how different and wonderful each of them are in their own ways and how their personalities are reflected in their personal styles.

What other blogs (fashion, food, lifestyle, etc.) do you follow obsessively & why?

As far as fashion, I’m a huge fan of Happily Grey, Mary’s girl-next-door style is enviable because it always looks completely relaxed and effortless. I adore Julia Engel’s style on Gal Meets Glam because it’s fresh, girly, and fun. Seeing her travels always inspires me to take a trip myself! Since the beginning of the year, I’ve gotten into more clean eating and vegan-ish types of dishes since I’ve decided to give up dairy for personal health reasons. I find a ton of inspiration from sites like Paleo Newbie, Skinny Mom, and Damn Delicious.

What is your favorite trend for the SS15 season?

Right now, I’m loving crop tops with high-waisted anything from skirts to shorts and palazzo pants! It’s a trend that works well for my body and is comfortable so I’m happy to see it hitting fashion mags!

What would you wear from UNIONBAY for a day in the sun?

I’m loving any tank from UNIONBAY  right now because the backs are so unique and work perfectly with this season’s popular bralette styles!

Thanks Missy! Make sure you follow her on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, & Instagram.
